Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren has admitted that Jack Colback is a doubt for his side's clash against Manchester City.
The 25-year-old was replaced during the Magpies' 2-2 draw against Chelsea last week due to a hamstring injury, and has struggled to recover during the week.
McClaren has conceded that playing Colback could be risky and he will make a late decision on whether the midfielder can feature at the Etihad Stadium. Meanwhile, Gabriel Obertan, Rolando Aarons and Massadio Haidara are all ruled out of the fixture.
"Obertan and Aarons have fallen out [of the squad] this week. Massadio has no chance from the last game. The only who could hopefully come back is Jack Colback," he told reporters.
"But he is still struggling with a little hamstring strain and we are just deciding whether to risk that. We are assessing it.
"So there are one or two [injuries] but generally the squad is fit."
Newcastle are 19th in the Premier League ahead of their clash against the Citizens.
