Midfielder Cheik Tiote will miss Newcastle United's Carling Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow evening with a knee injury.
The 25-year-old sustained the injury during the Magpies' 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon.
The complaint has also resulted in the Ivory Coast international being rated as doubtful for Newcastle's next Premier League match with Stoke City on Monday night.
Centre-back Steven Taylor is also unlikely to feature in the cup tie, having suffered a broken nose during the win against Wigan.
