Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback is confident that team morale will improve if the club continue their winning run in the Capital One Cup.
The Magpies will take on fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the third round this evening.
Tensions have been high among the Newcastle fans in the early stages of the season, with some calling for manager Alan Pardew to be sacked following five games without a win.
"It's good for team morale," The Shields Gazette quotes Colback as saying. "When you're winning games, it doesn't matter what competition it's in. It's good for the club and it's what the fans want."
The North-East outfit have not gone further than the fourth round in domestic competitions under Pardew.
