Under-fire Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren has said that he is too angry to feel embarrassed over his side's League Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
Lewis McGugan's 76th-minute strike was enough as a second-string Wednesday outfit beat McClaren's men 1-0 at St James' Park to compound what has proven a testing start to the season.
The Magpies sit 19th in the Premier League table after winning just two points from a possible 18 - one of three sides yet to win a game this season.
"I have been in football too long to be embarrassed," he is quoted as saying by The Chronicle.
"I am angry and disappointed. Things like that can happen. It is disappointing for everybody.
"We said in the dressing room we had enough possession and chances. If you don't score you don't win. There was a nervous feeling around the ground."
It gets no easier for McClaren and co, who host champions Chelsea at St James' Park on Saturday.
