Newcastle United boss John Carver has revealed that Daryl Janmaat apologised for being sent off in last week's demoralising 3-0 defeat to Leicester City.
The Magpies finished the rout with nine men after the Dutchman followed Mike Williamson down the tunnel late on after picking up a second yellow card.
The result left Newcastle two points above the relegation zone following an eight-game losing streak, and under-fire Carver added that several players have taken responsibility for the slump.
"Daryl Janmaat came and apologised - which I thought was good of him," he told The Chronicle. "Two or three of them have come and [shouldered some of the blame]."
United look to banish their end-of-season woes and boost their survival prospects by beating West Bromwich Albion at St James' Park on Saturday.
