Newcastle United manager John Carver has hit out at Phil Neville over comments that the ex-Manchester United man made after the Magpies' 3-0 defeat away at Everton.
The BBC Sport pundit claimed that some of the Newcastle players "had their flip-flops on" during the Toffees' comprehensive win at Goodison Park last weekend.
Carver replied by telling a press conference on Thursday: "I was pretty angry when I heard it because he couldn't be any further from the truth. I think it's insulting and it's wrong, especially from ex-players.
"What I did do was to inform the players about what these people had been saying. I thought it was important that they knew. Now it's down to ourselves to show those people out there that we've not got our flip-flops on."
Newcastle welcome Arsenal to St James' Park this weekend.
