Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has called on his teammates to join him in making sure that they do not find themselves in another scrap for survival next season.
The Magpies were one bad result away from dropping into the Championship, but they managed to retain their Premier League status with a 2-0 win over West Ham United on the final day of the season.
"This club should never be in the position we have been for the last three months," Dummett told The Chronicle. "I think us as players have got ourselves to blame.
"Luckily, we haven't gone down and we need to build in the summer with new players and make sure we don't get in this position anymore."
The North-East outfit remain without a permanent head coach following John Carver's interim spell.
