Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has branded Newcastle United "lucky" after their 1-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
Ayoze Perez's goal was enough to give the Magpies just their second away win of the calendar year, and Ferdinand claimed that Steve McClaren's men were fortunate to pick up the points at Dean Court.
"Newcastle were lucky," Ferdinand told BT Sport. "Lucky they have [Rob Elliot] in goal and lucky they had the players who can take the chances when they came their way.
"They worked hard for it of course, don't get me wrong, but they will feel lucky today. They will be buzzing on that journey home.
"Listen they haven't played well at all, but they have come away from here with a result."
The win moves Newcastle up to 16th in the Premier League table.
