Alan Pardew has claimed that John Carver has the qualities required to become his full-time replacement at Newcastle United.
Carver took over as caretaker manager following Pardew's move to Crystal Palace, and the latter was quick to give his backing to his former assistant following the 1-1 draw between the two sides on Wednesday evening.
"I think John's got the credentials to be a Premier League manager," the Palace boss told reporters. "I look at other managers and see no difference with the qualities that John possesses.
"I wish him all the best. I love him as a guy, as a colleague and as a friend, and that will never change."
Carver will be in charge of Newcastle until the end of the season when owner Mike Ashley is expected to review his position.
