Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that he had a "long conversation" with owner Mike Ashley at the weekend, but his future was not discussed.
The 53-year-old has come under increasing pressure from supporters following four Premier League games without a win.
A selection of fans are expected to protest against the manager ahead of Saturday's clash against Hull City at St James' Park.
"It has not been an easy week," Pardew said in this afternoon's press conference. "I've spoken to the group about it and if we go behind in games we have to show a better spirit.
"I had a long conversation with Mike Ashley on Sunday. We both agreed to focus on this Saturday and try to get a win for Newcastle."
Pardew signed an eight-year contract back in 2012.
