Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew was pleased with how his side adapted to a number of injuries after their 1-0 win over Norwich City at the Sports Direct Arena.
Papiss Cisse's first-half goal was enough to give the sixth-placed Magpies their first league victory in four games.
"It was important for us," Pardew told Sky Sports News. "We weren't at our best today, you could see that, we weren't really firing on all cylinders.
"We had eight senior players injured yesterday so we really were playing people out of position.
"We're missing key players and, as I say, we're a bit edgy but the last three games we've deserved four points, we've really put in a shift and we're hanging at the minute in that dressing room - really, really tired."
Newcastle continue their league campaign next Sunday when they travel to West Bromwich Albion.
