Newcastle United have reportedly begun talks with former Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster regarding the managerial vacancy at St James' Park.
The Premier League outfit are yet to appoint a new boss following the departure of Alan Pardew to Crystal Palace earlier this month.
John Carver has taken the reins until a permanent appointment is made, and it has now emerged that Schuster, who has been out of work since leaving Malaga last year, could be a candidate.
According to talkSPORT, Newcastle will hold further talks with the 55-year-old today after it was discussed who out of the current backroom staff Schuster would like to keep alongside him.
The club are believed to be keen for Carver, Steve Stone and Peter Beardsley to remain as part of the set-up should Schuster take over.
