Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez's January transfer plans reportedly remain in limbo as takeover talks are on the verge of collapse.
Toon owner Mike Ashley revealed earlier this month that he is in discussions with a number of interested parties to sell the Premier League club.
As many as four potential suitors are believed to have made contact with Ashley, but The Mirror claims that none of them has the cash to complete a deal.
The report suggests that no takeover is remotely close and plans for the January transfer window are non-existent - another major blow for beleaguered boss Benitez, who has admitted to being concerned about his side's survival hopes.
United, who sit four points above the relegation zone just after the midway point in the season, are believed to have already missed out on the signing of Atlanta United's Miguel Almiron.
