Steve McClaren will reportedly be confirmed as the new head coach of Newcastle United today.
The 54-year-old has been heavily linked with taking over from John Carver, who is expected to revert to a coaching role under the new regime.
It is thought that the former Derby County boss has concluded talks with the Newcastle hierarchy following a short holiday, according to Sky Sports News.
Manchester City elite development coach Patrick Vieira was reportedly also considered for the job, but the Frenchman looks set to remain in his current role.
The former England boss has also managed Middlesbrough, FC Twente, Wolfsburg and Nottingham Forest.
