Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend has claimed that his side's victory over Swansea City was a "long time coming".
The former Tottenham Hotspur player scored the winner in a 3-0 triumph at St James' Park on Saturday afternoon.
It was just their seventh win of the Premier League season and it has moved them to three points within safety.
Rafael Benitez's side have a busy week as they take on Manchester City on Tuesday and Liverpool at Anfield four days later.
"It's been a long time coming," Townsend told BBC Sport. "We thoroughly deserved it today. The hard work on the training field has come to fruition. The manager's ideas finally clicked into place.
"When you play away from home it's always difficult but at home it's different. The fans were great. It's massively important to build on this - it's a make or break week.
"Now on Tuesday the fans will be on our side and hopefully it'll be a great night at St James' Park. Having four out of the last six games at home is massive."
Newcastle have taken 28 points from 33 league games.
