Newcastle United jumped up to 15th on the final day of the Premier League season with a 2-0 win over West Ham United at St James' Park.

Moussa Sissoko and Jonas Gutierrez both scored in the second half to make sure that the Magpies avoided relegation from the top flight.

The result also means West Ham finish 12th in the table, resulting in the club confirming just moments after full time that they will not be renewing Sam Allardyce's contract.

NEWCASTLE

Goal

Tim Krul: Tim Krul had just one save to make this afternoon, but it was a good one, stretching with his legs to deny Stewart Downing. (7/10)

Defence

Daryl Janmaat: Janmaat was playing mainly as a wing-back this afternoon, showing off his pace down the right wing, creating a number of chances of Riviere and Cisse in the first half. (8/10)

Fabricio Coloccini: The captain was vital to slowing West Ham's midfielders as they tried to dominate the first half, and had a couple of chances in front of goal in the second half. (8/10)

Mike Williamson: Returning from suspension, the defender could have conceded a penalty in the opening five minutes, but was otherwise solid at the back. (7/10)

Paul Dummett: Probably the quietest of the defenders this afternoon, Dummett tried to help out in midfield a few times, but did not have a huge impact. (6/10)

Midfield

Moussa Sissoko: The scorer of the opening goal made contributions at both ends of the pitch, including a superb header to break the deadlock in the second half. (8/10)

Vurnon Anita: Anita missed an absolute sitter inside the final 10 minutes, but was otherwise workmanlike in midfield for the home side. (7/10)

Jack Colback: Colback has been one of Newcastle's best players all season, and he continued to show his quality with a string of quick runs and crosses for the hosts. (8/10)

Jonas Gutierrez: Gutierrez was probably the best player on the pitch this afternoon, setting up the first goal before scoring the second, while also contributing defensively. (9/10)

Attack

Emmanuel Riviere: The winger played just behind Papiss Cisse today, but had more chances than the striker, although his finishing touch let him down a few times. (7/10)

Papiss Cisse: The striker's chances were limited by some solid defending, but he did provide some good passes for his teammates to create chances for them. (7/10)

Substitutes

Yoan Gouffran: The striker replaced Anita in the final minute of the match, but did not have enough time to have any real impact on the match. (5/10)

WEST HAM

Goal

Adrian: The West Ham goalkeeper made some solid saves, but was left too exposed by his defenders in the run up to the two goals. (6/10)

Defence

Carl Jenkinson: Jenkinson was given the freedom to get forward a bit more, regularly working with Downing in midfield, but he could have done more at the back to help limit Janmaat and Colback. (5/10)

Winston Reid: Reid may very well have been West Ham's best defender this afternoon, mainly charged with marking Papiss Cisse, effectively limiting his chances. (7/10)

Reece Burke: The youngster had a quiet first half before finding himself struggling to restrict Gutierrez and Sissoko after the break. (5/10)

Aaron Cresswell: Cresswell struggled in the first half, frequently losing out to Janmaat and Colback as they sprinted down the right, but he did improve after the break. (4/10)

Midfield

Kevin Nolan: Facing his old club, Nolan was not afraid to get involved in a few physical battles in the middle, and made some important blocks at the back too. (7/10)

Cheikhou Kouyate: Kouyate worked hard in the first half, but was not able to have his usual impact through the middle, resulting in him being subbed off early. (5/10)

Stewart Downing: Downing was the main threat for West Ham, providing dangerous crosses from both sides as well as taking on a couple of shots himself, including the only one that forced a save from Krul. (8/10)

Alex Song: Song had a fairly anonymous day in the middle for West Ham, with his only notable contribution being a wayward cross-pitch pass to Downing in the first half. (4/10)

Attack

Enner Valencia: Valencia wanted a penalty early on and found himself being rather physically marked at times, but he was ultimately unable to get open regularly enough to make the most of Downing's efforts. (5/10)

Carlton Cole: Cole made a few decent flicks and crosses in and around the box, but did not get a shot away himself during the match. (5/10)

Substitutes

James Tomkins: Tomkins replaced Burke with over 20 minutes to go for his first appearance in two months, making a few decent tackles and blocks as Newcastle turned the screw late on (6/10)

Elliot Lee: The youngster replaced Kouyate to help the defence out for the final 15 minutes, but was unable to prevent Newcastle increasing their lead. (4/10)

Morgan Amalfitano: After replacing Valencia with 25 minutes remaining, Amalfitano set up Downing for a shot from the edge of the box, which almost resulted in an equaliser. (7/10)
