Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association after allegedly using racist language during a game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in September.
The 24-year-old has been accused of using "abusive and/or insulting words" towards an opposition player during the Magpies' 2-0 defeat to Wolves on September 17.
A statement from the FA added: "It is further alleged that this breach of Rule E3(1) is an 'Aggravated Breach' as defined in Rule E3(2), as it included reference to ethnic origin and/or race and/or nationality."
Shelvey, who joined Newcastle from Swansea City in January, has until November 16 to respond to the charge.
