Newcastle United defender Ryan Taylor has insisted that he is only focusing on the club's survival and not his own contract situation.
The 30-year-old, who joined the Magpies from Wigan Athletic in 2009, is due to be a free agent at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table, two points clear of the relegation zone with two games left.
While he admits that he would like his future sorted out sooner rather than later, Taylor is desperate to help the struggling Tynesiders retain their place in the top flight.
"I'm not going to lie, the situation does play on my mind because like any other professional it is nice to have a contract and some security," he is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "But I am playing for the good of the football club and my main focus is completely on Newcastle United and helping this team stay up.
"In an ideal world, I would love to still be playing in the Premier League for Newcastle. St James' Park is where my heart and head are."
Newcastle continue their fight for survival on Saturday when they make the trip to Queens Park Rangers.
