Steve McClaren has said that reports linking him to the managerial vacancy at Newcastle United are "pure speculation".
Alan Pardew is expected to be unveiled as the new Crystal Palace boss later today after arriving at the club's training ground to work with the players this morning, leaving the Magpies without a manager.
The Derby County manager told BBC Radio Derby: "I'm past all that. I used to [be flattered] when I was younger. I realise it is part of the game, but it's pure speculation."
McClaren's side currently sit third in the Championship table.
