Newcastle United owners 'still have full faith in Eddie Howe'

Newcastle United reportedly have no plans to consider replacing manager Eddie Howe in the foreseeable future.

Since the takeover of the Public Investment Fund, the Magpies have been transformed from a club battling relegation to one that will now participate in the Champions League.

Although he has been provided with the financial firepower to put together a squad capable of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table, Howe has received widespread praise for the job that he has done at St James' Park.

A total of 38 wins and 20 draws have been recorded from 78 matches in charge, Newcastle also possessing a strong defensive record during 2022-23.

However, that has not been the case during a tough start to the campaign in which the North East giants have faced Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion in succession.

Seven goals have been conceded during those four fixtures, with Newcastle losing the latter three games to currently sit in 14th position in the standings.

Already seven points adrift of the top four, Howe may feel under growing pressure to close the gap as soon as possible over the coming weeks at a time when he will have to juggle continental football.

Nevertheless, according to The Telegraph, the PIF have no plans to part company with Howe should he fail to put together a string of wins in the short term.

The report suggests that the 45-year-old retains the full backing of club officials who are more inclined to assist Howe in any way that they can rather than consider a change in the dugout.

Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan is said to have total confidence in the management team both on and off the pitch and plans to retain the current strategy.

Al-Rumayyan gave the green light for a number of major signings over the summer with Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall, Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes all making the move.

Newcastle are next in action when they play host to Brentford on Saturday evening before they travel to San Siro to square off against AC Milan three days later.

Premier League fixtures then follow against Sheffield United and Burnley, either side of an EFL Cup tie against Man City on home territory. body check tags ::
