Newcastle United have reportedly agreed a deal to sell winger Miguel Almiron to Saudi Pro League outfit Al Shabab.

The Magpies are owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund and are regarded as one of the richest clubs in world football.

However, Financial Fair Play regulations are restricting Eddie Howe's side from entering the January transfer market in search of reinforcements.

Newcastle recently announced pre-tax losses of £73m for the financial year, and CEO Darren Eales has refused to rule out the possibility of selling star players to balance their books.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Magpies have 'reached a provisional agreement' over the sale of Almiron to Saudi side Al Shabab.

Jacobs adds that the deal is yet to be finalised, but he claims that Almiron is open to the move to the Middle East this month.

Almiron, who turns 30 in February, has spent the last five years at St James' Park since joining from MLS club Atlanta United for a reported £21m in January 2019.

The Paraguay international has contributed with 30 goals and 11 assists in 195 appearances for Newcastle across all competitions, including five strikes and two assists in 31 outings so far this season.

Almiron has been the Magpies' first-choice option to start on the right flank since the arrival of Howe, and he enjoyed his best scoring season for the club in 2022-23, netting 11 times in 34 Premier League games to help the club finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League.

The winger has now been tipped to depart Newcastle at a time when a number of other first-team players are facing uncertain futures at the club, including right-back Kieran Trippier.

Bayern Munich have reportedly had both loan and permanent offers for Trippier turned down by the Magpies this month as they have no interest in parting ways with the 33-year-old.

Callum Wilson has allegedly been the subject of a rejected loan bid from Atletico Madrid, but it it understood that Newcastle would entertain a permanent transfer this month if they receive a suitable offer for the striker.

Javi Manquillo completed a permanent transfer to Celta Vigo on Sunday, while Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak have all been tipped to depart either in January or next summer amid the club's financial concerns.
