Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has insisted that he will improve his squad before the transfer window closes.
The Magpies have secured another loan deal for Chelsea attacker Kenedy this summer, while Ki Sung-yeung has arrived at St James's Park on a free transfer from Swansea City.
Martin Dubravka's loan move from Sparta Prague was also made permanent, but the club have been frustrated in their pursuit of a number of targets. That said, a deal for Deportivo La Coruna's Fabian Schar is believed to be close to completion.
Benitez admitted last week that he would have to sell before buying this summer, but the Spaniard has promised the club's frustrated supporters that new signings will arrive before August 9.
"We will do something and we have to do something. You need numbers, you need experience and you need quality if you want to compete in the Premier League so we will try to do that," Benitez told Sky Sports News.
"We are working, trying to do something but I don't want to say too much."
Newcastle continued their preparations for the 2018-19 campaign with a 2-2 draw against Hull City on Tuesday night.
