Newcastle United head coach John Carver has promised that the club will be active in the transfer market this summer.
Despite not being assured of his own position at St James' Park as the club continues to be linked with managers, Carver has insisted that the fans should expect to see the squad improved before the start of next season.
"Yes, the squad needs to be stronger, and they have acknowledged that to me," the Newcastle boss, who was appointed on a short-term basis following Alan Pardew's departure in January, told reporters.
"I am telling you now, because I have been part of it in the last few weeks. There are things in place.
"That's from the top, and the fact that I am sitting here talking about this acknowledgement tells me that they have realised they've got to do something about it."
The Magpies, who have won just one of their last six Premier League games, return to action against Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.
