Miguel Almiron's father has confirmed that the Atlanta United forward is on his way to the Premier League, with Newcastle United the frontrunners to sign him.
The Magpies are big admirers of the Paraguay international, who scored 13 goals and set up 11 more for Atlanta during the 2019 Major League Soccer season.
Speaking last week, though, United boss Rafael Benitez denied claims that the North-East outfit had already tabled a £15m offer for the versatile attacker.
However, Almiron's father Ruben has hinted that a move to St James' Park is the most likely option in January, telling ABC Cardinal: "He will definitely go to England. What's left to be decided is to what club but Newcastle is the one with the advantage."
United owner Mike Ashley revealed earlier this month that he is in talks with a number of parties to sell the club before the end of the year, which could impact the Magpies' transfer business.
