Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Chancel Mbemba from Anderlecht on a five-year contract, subject to the defender gaining a visa.
The DR Congo international, 20, is the Premier League club's third signing of the summer.
Mbemba has joined Newcastle for an undisclosed fee, though it is understood that he has cost the Magpies around £8.5m.
The full-back has not received clearance in time to feature in Newcastle's final pre-season friendly against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.
"I'm very, very happy to be here," he told the club's official website. "This is the biggest league in the world and I'm very proud to wear the shirt for this team and play in this league.
"I'm going to do everything I can to help make the supporters happy, to help out my teammates and to bring something extra to the team. I know the team very well. I've watched the Premier League and I know this is a massive team with big players and with a great coach.
"I've come here to Newcastle United because it's a very good move in my career to play for such a famous club. I am excited for the season ahead."
Mbemba, who joined Anderlecht in 2011, has made 17 appearances for DR Congo since 2012.
