Newcastle United have expressed an interest in signing Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas, according to reports.
The 26-year-old was one of the Tigers' most consistent performers last season, but could not prevent his side from making an immediate return to the Championship.
According to The Sun, Magpies manager Rafael Benitez is eager to sign Clucas in a bid to bolster his midfield options, and is hoping that a £4m offer will turn Leonid Slutsky's head.
The report also claims that the player himself is eager to remain in the Premier League, but Hull are thought to be reluctant to sell until they bring in more players.
Since moving to the KCOM Stadium in 2015, Clucas has scored nine times in 93 matches in all competitions.
