Newcastle United want to sign Aston Villa striker Darren Bent but are unwilling to meet the Villans' valuation of the player, according to a report.
The Magpies are looking to add to their attacking options following the departure of Demba Ba in January and the struggles of Papiss Cisse last season.
However, they are not prepared to meet the £6m valuation of the 29-year-old and also want the England international to drop his wage demands of £75,000, reports The People.
Bent played under Newcastle boss Alan Pardew when the pair were at Charlton Athletic together during the 2006-07 season.
