Former Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has emerged as a reported target for Championship outfit Newcastle United.
The 33-year-old, who has been without a team since departing the Bernabeu at the end of last season as a free agent, was recently forced to deny suggestions that he intended to retire.
According to Football Espana, Arbeloa could be in line for a reunion with former boss Rafael Benitez at Newcastle this summer, having previously played under his compatriot at both Madrid and Liverpool.
It is suggested that the Magpies face competition from AC Milan for the experienced full-back's signature, however, while a number of unnamed Premier League teams are also said to have shown an interest.
Arbeloa, signed by Benitez at Liverpool in 2007, made 153 appearances for Madrid during a seven-year spell at the club upon rejoining from the Reds.
