Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has reportedly made Shane Long one of his major January transfer targets.
The Republic of Ireland international's contract at West Bromwich Albion is due to expire at the end of the season and talks over an extension are not thought to have yet taken place.
That has alerted Pardew, who is keen to bolster his attacking options, with both Papiss Cisse and Shola Ameobi tipped for moves away from St James' Park, according to The People.
However, it is said that Newcastle will face competition from Hull City, who attempted to sign the 26-year-old during the summer.
Long joined the Baggies from Championship side Reading back in 2009.
