Accrington Stanley defender Tom Bender is recovering in hospital after sustaining a serious injury during last night's match with Tranmere.
The 18-year-old, who is currently on loan from Colchester United, collided with Accrington goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin and Tranmere's Lucas Akins.
He was treated on the pitch for 25 minutes before being stretchered off and the match was abandoned.
A hospital scan later revealed that the Welsh U21 player escaped serious injury, but he was kept in hospital overnight.
"I have been to the hospital. Tom is now conscious, he has been for a scan which has come back as normal," Accrington chief executive Rob Heys said.
"He has severe concussion and will be kept in overnight for observation but is expected to make a full recovery."
