Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba has collapsed on the pitch during his side's FA Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur this evening.
The 23-year-old, who fell to the floor with nobody around him, is believed to have suffered cardiac problems.
Efforts were made to resuscitate Muamba with a defibrillator by six parademics, before he was stretchered off the pitch by medical staff.
The match, which was level at 1-1, has been abandoned by referee Howard Webb.
It has now been confirmed that Muamba has been taken to hospital for further treatment.
Wanderers manager Owen Coyle and club captain Kevin Davies have travelled to the hospital to be with Muamba.
