Samantha Stosur has advanced into the third round of the Rome Open after overcoming Sara Errani 6-3 7-5.
The match started in even fashion and remained on serve at 2-2 until Errani secured the first break to move 3-2 ahead.
She lost her next two serves, however, allowing Stosur to move into a 5-3 lead, and serve for the opening set.
Both players struggled with their serves in the second set, with Errani losing three of her six, while Stosur lost two but managed to edge clear to take it 7-5.
