Lloyd Palun scored a dramatic equaliser in the 92nd minute to earn Nice a 1-1 draw with Montpellier on Saturday evening.
In a first half which saw the hosts dominate possession, the best opportunity fell to Nice's Souleymane Camara, who dragged a shot just wide of the target after beating the offside trap.
After creating a number of good chances, the hosts should have gone in at the break ahead, but they were guilty of being wasteful in front of goal as Alexy Bosetti and Eric Bautheac both missed openings.
Despite continuing to dictate the tempo of the game, Nice struggled to create chances after the break as the defenders threatened to come out on top.
What looked like the deciding moment would eventually arrive in the 72nd minute Hilton found space inside the box to head home Anthony Mounier's corner.
However, there would be a late twist in the second minute of stoppage when Palun's powerful header proved to be too strong for Geoffrey Jourdren to keep out.
