John Obi Mikel believes that Nigeria can cause a few surprises at the World Cup this summer.
The Super Eagles, who are the current holders of the Africa Cup of Nations, open their Group F campaign against Iran on Monday.
"This is my first World Cup," the 27-year-old Chelsea midfielder told FIFA's official website.
"I want to make sure we achieve something coming here. We don't just want to come and make up the numbers, we want to do well.
"I have to make sure I lead by example. We are all driving in the same direction. We all know what we want and hopefully we will have a good tournament."
Nigeria have featured in five of the previous six World Cups.
