Nigeria took a huge step towards qualifying for the World Cup knockout stages with a 1-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina in Cuiaba.

A first-half goal from Peter Odemwingie gave the Super Eagles all three points, with Edin Dzeko seeing a goal wrongly ruled out for the Europeans.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at who impressed during an eventful 90 minutes.

NIGERIA

Goal

Vincent Enyeama: Great performance from the keeper who stopped everything that came his way. He made two crucial saves to deny Dzeko in stoppage time to help his country claim all three points. (8/10)

Defence

Joseph Yobo: Solid display from the captain throughout the 90 minutes. He returned to the starting lineup after missing their first group match and used his experience to help the team's younger players. (7/10)

Efe Ambrose: He played Dzeko onside as the striker ran through to score a goal that was wrongly disallowed. It proved to be the only lapse in concentration for the rest of the evening, as the Celtic man put in an energetic display down the right. (6/10)

Juwon Oschaniwa: Dependable performance from the full-back, who was solid all evening. He managed to cut out Bosnia's threat down the right and looked to help his team going forward. (7/10)

Kenneth Omeruo: Another fine performance from the young Chelsea defender. Along with his centre-back partner Yobo he frustrated the Bosnian attack and was strong in the air against Dzeko. (7/10)

Midfield

John Obi Mikel: Energetic display from the vastly experienced midfielder. He was criticised in Nigeria's opening match for not playing the ball forward quickly enough, but he linked well with the attack throughout and dominated in the centre of the pitch. (8/10)

Ogenyi Onazi: Tough-tackling and powerful display from the Lazio man. He could have done better with his strikes on goal, but was busy all evening. (7/10)

Michael Babatunde: Tried his best to effect the game, but did not see much off the ball. Replaced by Uzoenyi late on. (6/10)

Attack

Peter Odemwingie: Industrious showing from the Stoke City forward. He took his goal extremely well and provided a constant outlet for his team. (8/10)

Ahmed Musa: Contributed well to the threat that Nigeria posed in the attack. His influence on the match faded after the break and he was replaced midway through the second half by Ameobi. (6/10)

Emmanuel Emenike: Nigeria's best player throughout the 90 minutes. He did fantastically well to set up Odemwingie's goal and kept Bosnia keeper Begovic busy. His strength and power gave the opposition defence no end of problems as he stole the show. (9/10)

Substitutes

Shola Ameobi: Kept the ball well as his side looked to hold onto their narrow lead in the closing stages. (6/10)

Ejike Uzoenyi: Was only on the pitch for a short amount of time and hardly had time to make an impact. (6/10)

BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA

Goal

Asmir Begovic: Had no chance of stopping Odemwingie's strike, but produced a number of saves throughout the match. The scoreline could have been worse had it not been for the Stoke City keeper. (7/10)

Defence

Emir Spahic: At fault for the goal, where he was outmuscled by Emenike. He was given a torrid time all evening and never looked comfortable. (4/10)

Mensur Mujdza: Solid performance from the Freiburg player. Tried to get forward, but did not see much of the ball in the opposition half. (6/10)

Toni Sunjic: Never got to grips with the pace of the Nigerian attack. Far too often he allowed the opposing forwards space to shoot and was caught out for the goal. (5/10)

Senad Lulic: Not one of his best displays. He was constantly beaten for pace and strength and was replaced by Salihovic just before the hour mark. (5/10)

Midfield

Muhamed Besic: Mistimed a number of challenges in the midfield. Played well enough, but faded in the latter stages. (6/10)

Haris Medunjanin: Battled well in the midfield and tried to get his team back into the match without success. He was booked for a poor challenge on Musa in the opening stages and was replaced by Susic in the second half. (6/10)

Izet Hajrovic: Struggled to get into the match. Was taken off for Ibisevic not too long after half time as his team searched for an equaliser. (6/10)

Attack

Miralem Pjanic: Classy performance as ever from the Roma playmaker, with his inch-perfect pass leading to Dzeko's disallowed goal. He tried his best to change the outcome of the match, but it was not to be as his team bowed out of the tournament. (7/10)

Zvjezdan Misimovic: Disappointing showing from the experienced midfielder. His set piece deliveries were poor all evening and he failed to make a positive impact on the match. (5/10)

Edin Dzeko: Had a goal wrongly ruled out for offside in the first half, but squandered a host of other chances to score for his team. In stoppage time he missed two glaring opportunities that a player of his calibre should have been putting in the back of the net. (5/10)

Substitutes

Vedad Ibisevic: Had a great chance to level the scores when he was picked out unmarked from a corner, but put his header over the bar. (5/10)

Sejad Salihovic: Struggled to get into the match. (5/10)

Tino-Sven Susic: Another player that failed to make his mark on the game. (5/10)
