Northampton Town boss Aidy Bothroyd insists that his side will recover from their poor start to the season.

Northampton Town boss Aidy Bothroyd is confident that his side will recover from their stuttering start to the season.

Saturday's 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United left the club in 21st position in the table having taken just four points from their opening six games in League Two.

"The fans expect us to win every home game on the back of last season's form here but I'm talking two or three months not two or three games to start playing like I want us to," he told the club's official website. "I never thought we really played the way we can here, not through a lack of effort but more to do with the fact that we're a team which is developing and it will take time.

"It wasn't until January last season that we began to go on a run, we didn't play the most attractive football but we got wins. Now we're trying to get to that next level, winning and entertaining, but we've got to find that balance.

"I honestly believe this was a massive point for us, the longer the game went on I thought we were the more likely team to score. The goal we conceded was unacceptable but all credit to the players, they could have crumbled after that but they stuck at it and got a fair result."

Chesterfield currently lead the way in League Two.
