Northampton Town caretaker boss Andy King said he was "disappointed" to see his side lose their League Two match against Chesterfield on Saturday.
Northampton led briefly through a Darren Carter penalty before goals from Dan Gardner, Gary Roberts, and Armand Gnanduillet condemned the Cobblers to defeat and left them rock bottom of the table.
King told reporters: "We're all disappointed because the position we are in we need to win football matches.
"The conditions were poor but I thought we competed very well at times and belied our position.
"The players have got to find some confidence and the way to find that is by putting together a run of four or five games."
Northampton host Rochdale in their next game on Tuesday.
