Northampton Town have been given permission to redevelop and expand Sixfields Stadium and the surrounding area.
The approval of the plans - which will see the capacity of the ground increased to 10,000 seats along with new corporate boxes and the building of a new conference centre - was hailed by Cobblers chairman David Cardoza as a "momentous day" for the club.
He said: "We can all be very excited about the future and so can our supporters. This is fantastic news."
Northampton currently share their stadium with Coventry City and the Sky Blues moved out of the Ricoh Arena during the summer.
