Northampton Town have confirmed that they have terminated Emile Sinclair's contract with the club.
The striker joined the Cobblers in January, initially on loan from Crawley Town.
The 27-year-old then went on to sign a two-year deal during the summer, but having made just one start this season, the League Two outfit have taken the decision to release him.
"Emile departs with our best wishes. He came in last season at an important time and helped get us pick some up much needed results," said manager Chris Wilder.
"He has fallen down the pecking order this season and that is a sign of the progress we have made. He needs to be playing regular football, which he would struggle to do here."
Sinclair made a total of 34 appearances for Northampton, from which he scored three goals.
