Northampton Town have confirmed that midfielder Lewis Hornby will not be offered a new contract at the club.
The 19-year-old has not played for the Cobblers for almost two years due to a back injury.
Hornby made his professional debut for Northampton in October 2012 following a spell in the club's youth system.
"The boy hasn't played football for two years and sometimes you come to a decision between yourself and the coaching staff that maybe he needs to get himself up and running somewhere else," manager Chris Wilder told the club's official website.
"It's a shame because when I came to the club people were talking about him in a good light but I haven't been able to see him kick a ball. Hopefully he will get over his injury problems."
Northampton continue their bid to reach the League Two playoffs on Saturday when they travel to Burton Albion.
