Gary O'Neil pleased by slender Norwich City victory

Gary O'Neil believes that it was a case of 'job done' for Norwich City in their Championship clash against Cardiff City having held out to claim all three points.

Norwich City midfielder Gary O'Neil has admitted that his side made life tough for themselves in yesterday's 3-2 victory over Cardiff City.

The Canaries raced into a three-goal lead before the interval at Carrow Road, although they found their comfortable cushion slashed when the visitors pulled two back with 25 minutes still to play.

However, Norwich were able to see out the remainder of the contest to claim back-to-back wins under their new boss and move within one point of the top six as a result.

"The objective was three points and we got that," O'Neil told the club's official website. "When you look at it in the plain light of day, it's a big three points. Obviously it didn't need to be quite as hard as we made it, but the end result is what we set out for.

"I didn't feel like we changed our approach mentally, but Cardiff have had a kick up the backside in the 15 minute break and they changed their system a little bit. They get the first goal, and then their tails are up.

"In the end, when it's gone 3-2 with half-an-hour to go, we've done well to win the game because they had all the momentum."

Norwich return to league action next weekend when they play host to Brentford.
