Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has stated that he is pleased with the way his squad contributed to Tuesday night's win at Birmingham City.
The Reds boss made five changes to the side that beat Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, as Forest went on to secure a 1-0 victory at St Andrew's thanks to a goal from Dexter Blackstock.
Freedman has admitted that while his team selection might have surprised the Forest fans, the players who came in performed well.
"I'm sure everybody else was questioning it before the game but I've got the opportunity to see the players working every day and I have the mindset that you need a squad in this division," he told Forest's official website.
"I know now that I've got a bench who can help me either win a game or hold on to a game."
Forest have moved up to eighth in the Championship, one point outside the playoff places.
