Steve McClaren reveals that "it has never been [his] intention to consider leaving" Nottingham Forest.

Steve McClaren has confirmed that he will remain as Nottingham Forest boss after speculation claiming he was considering stepping down from the post.

The former England manager was reportedly contemplating his future after talks between his representatives and the Championship club were due to take place.

Despite the confusion surrounding his position, the 50-year-old has dispelled any suggestions that he wanted to resign.

"I would like to emphasise that my only concern is getting on with the job at Forest of achieving the goal of getting the club back to the Premier League," McClaren told the club’s official website.

"Contrary to reports, it has never been my intention to consider leaving. I am certainly no quitter and I am as enthusiastic about the task as I was when I arrived in Nottingham in June.

"I am desperately keen to succeed at Forest and as far as I am concerned it is onwards and upwards with everyone pulling in the same direction in order to achieve our aims."

McClaren admitted that his new appointment had been "frustrating" after joining the club in June.

"I can't deny that it has been a frustrating time and some things have not worked out the way I had hoped in the first three months," he added. "But it is a building process and still very much early days."

Chief executive Mark Arthur has echoed McClaren’s sentiments and admitted that any prior disagreements can be "overcome" in the best interests of the club.
