Nottingham Forest are reportedly giving consideration to making a bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Jose Sa.
The East Midlands outfit are currently preparing for their second consecutive season of Premier League football after a 16th-placed finish in 2022-23.
Unlike last summer when Forest signed an array of different players, they are yet to bring in any fresh faces for the senior ranks during the current transfer window.
Nevertheless, that will soon need to change in order to address their goalkeeping situation with neither of the number ones from the last campaign currently at the City Ground.
Keylor Navas is back at Paris Saint-Germain having filled the gap during the closing four months of the season, an alternative having been required for Dean Henderson.
The England international, on loan from Manchester United, had starred between the sticks before suffering a thigh injury in January, and he, too, has returned to his parent club.
According to The Telegraph, Forest have opened negotiations with United in a bid to secure the permanent signing of Henderson ahead of the new top-flight campaign.
However, the same outlet says that Wolves stopper Sa is regarded as an alternative to Henderson and could soon emerge as a priority target.
Sa has spent the last two seasons at Molineux, making a total of 73 starts in the Premier League and proving value for money after a £6.25m transfer from Olympiacos.
As it stands, it is felt that the 30-year-old will remain as number one at Wolves, despite Julen Lopetegui handing game time to David Bentley during the closing weeks of the season.
That said, if Wolves are able to make a profit on the deal that they conducted in 2021, reaching an agreement may become a realistic possibility for all concerned.
Sa is no stranger to playing for a club under Forest's ownership with Evangelos Marinakis owning each of the English side and Greek giants Olympiacos.
Forest currently have Ethan Horvath, who starred on loan at Luton Town in the Championship last season, and veteran Wayne Hennessey on their books. body check tags ::
