Nottingham Forest manager Sean O'Driscoll says that he is considering a permanent move for loan signing Billy Sharp but insists that negotiations have not begun with Southampton.

Nottingham Forest manager Sean O'Driscoll has admitted that he wants to sign Southampton's Billy Sharp on a permanent deal.

The former Doncaster Rovers striker is currently at the City Ground on a loan deal from St Mary's, but O'Driscoll has claimed that the 26-year-old could become a permanent fixture within the side.

"Any loan deal that you do for a year is with a view to a permanent move," the Nottingham Post quotes O'Driscoll as saying.

"You have a good look at the player, they have a good look at you and, depending on what happens with his parent club, something might happen. There is nothing in place, we have not entered into negotiations.

"But if he does really well here, if he likes it and if he is not part of Southampton's plans, then we would be foolish not to try to make it a permanent move."

Sharp signed for Southampton from Doncaster in January.
