Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce has revealed that Mikele Leigertwood remains a potential signing for the club.
The 31-year-old midfielder was close to being offered a deal at the City Ground during the summer, before a groin injury ended his trial with the Championship outfit.
Leigertwood will undergo an operation this week and Pearce has not ruled out the possibility of signing him once he regains fitness.
"When he recovers from the injury he has got, we will see," Pearce told the Nottingham Post.
"But we are paying for his medical treatment, which is only right, as he was in a red shirt when he got injured."
Leigertwood is a free agent after leaving Reading at the end of last season.
