Notts County manager Chris Kiwomya has admitted that the club's young players are not ready for League One football.
The Magpies' budget has been cut by 30% this summer and experienced players, including Neal Bishop and Jeff Hughes, have left Meadow Lane.
"I think once they play games they will become better players, but they need to show commitment first," he told BBC Sport.
"It is up to the players to go out there and have commitment, work hard for the team and give 100% - that is all you can ask. I trust in the players that I've got in the squad.
"There are bigger teams than ourselves with bigger budgets, and that can get you better players, but once we cross the line we have to find a way of winning games."
County face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Friday evening.
