Nuremberg have claimed three vital points as they aim to beat the drop in the Bundesliga, overcoming Stuttgart with a 2-0 home victory this evening.
Stuttgart's Ibrahima Traore was the first to create a chance, as he fired in a long-range effort which was kept out of the goalkeeper's bottom left corner with a smart save.
The visitors thought they had taken the lead in the 16th minute, but Konstantin Rausch's strike cannoned back off the crossbar with the keeper beaten.
Mike Frantz should have put Nuremberg ahead midway through the half as he glanced a header from close range wide of the left post.
The miss wasn't to matter, however, as Josip Drmic put the home side 1-0 ahead having latched on to Hiroshi Kiyotake's pass just before the break.
The hosts doubled their lead after the interval when Drmic grabbed his brace after being picked out by a clever ball from Markus Feulner, leading his side to what could be a crucial win.
