Nuremburg have scraped an edgy contest 1-0 courtesy of a second-half Timo Gebhart goal.
In a tense first half Hanno Balitsch came close for the home side, but missed the target with a header.
There were numerous corners for each side, but both defences were remaining solid and few chances were created.
As the half drew to a close, Balitsch had another effort blocked.
It took 76 minutes, but the deadlock was finally broken when Timo Gebhart fired home.
Nuremburg were able to hold on to the points, despite a late Wolfsburg rally.
