Olympiacos and Anderlecht met in their final Champions League Group C game on Tuesday.

The home side needed to better the result of Benfica to advance to the knockout stages of the competition in their clash with the Belgian side.

That's just what they did in an eventful game as the Greek team were awarded three penalties while Anderlecht ended the game with eight men, as the hosts ran out 3-1 winners.

Read how all the action unfolded in our commentary below.

Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League Group C clash between Olympiacos and Anderlecht.
This is a crucial game for Olympiacos as they can secure their place in the knockout stages of the competition with a win or a draw, as they are level on points with Benfica in the group but can edge into the the next round due to their superior goal difference, if the Portuguese side also pick up a point.
The Greek side will be looking to get back on track in the competition as they lost last time out to group winners Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes. That allowed Benfica to close in on them in second place so they will wan to seal the deal this evening.
Olympiacos's home record is a mixed bag in the group stage as they have won once and lost once, but they are unbeaten at home in every other competition this season. That form has seen them move to the summit of the Super League table.
Anderlecht have endured a miserable Champions League campaign as they have picked up just one point in their five games. That point came against PSG last month so they will be looking to spoil the evening for the home side to pick up their first win in the competition this year.
The Belgian side have won just two of their last five games but were boosted at the weekend with a 2-0 win over Waasland-Beveren in the Pro League.
The team news has been released and we'll start with Olympiacos.
OLYMPIACOS STARTING XI: Roberto, Holebas, Manolas, Leandro Salino, Paulo Machado, Samaris, Fuster, Siovas, Campbell, Saviola, Olaitan.
OLYMPIACOS SUBS: Megyeri, Papadopoulos, Bong, N'Dinga, Dominguez, Yatabare, Weiss.
ANDERLECHT STARTING XI: Proto, N'Sakala, Kouyate, Mbemba, Vanden Borre, Milivojevic, Praet, Kljestan, Gillet, Najar, Mitrovic.
ANDERLECHT SUBS: Kaminski, Nuytinck, De Zeeuw, Tielemans, Vargas, Cyriac, Acheampong.
The home side are without star striker Kostas Mitroglou who injured his knee in his side's defeat to PSG in the last round of fixtures. He is replaced in the lineup by Michael Olatain, with Javier Saviola in support. Paulo Machado replaces Maniatis in defence from their last Champions League outing in the only other change.
Anderlecht make three changes for their defeat to Benfica last time out as Deschact, Bruno and Nuytinck all drop out of the side and they are replaces by Milivojevic, Najar and Kljestan.
Olympiacos coach Michel has admitted that his team have been focused on this game for a good while now, as they know the importance of it, he told reporters: "My selection on the weekend was not so much a matter of looking for freshness as looking for success and continuity. But I was disappointed with how many times we lost the ball when we had possession. It is true maybe we did have our minds on Tuesday, especially as it is a competition that has the eyes of the world on it and that can affect players. But on Tuesday we will need to be fresher, faster, more aggressive and end as winners."
Anderlecht coach Jon van den Brom is determined to show what his team are capable of, despite them confirmed as fourth place finishers of Group C, he told reporters: "Just because we're resigned to finishing bottom, doesn't mean we're not going to play to win. We lost 3-0 at home despite giving one of our best performances. We have to look to the future, so playing well tomorrow is important for morale ahead of our domestic run-in. We played well at the weekend and will more or less use the same players tomorrow. The players are proud people, they want to make amends for the first game and collect points which will help us in future competition draws."
The Belgian side were hammered in the first game between the sides at home as Olympiacos ran out 3-0 winners thanks to a hat-trick from Mitroglou. Fortunately for Anderlecht, he is absent this evening.
The players are out on the pitch and we should be underway shortly.
We're underway in this Group C clash.
The home side come close in the early stages as Holebas raids down the left and hits a cross deep to the back post and Campbell latches onto it and fires at goal but N'Sakala makes the block but appears to have done it with his hand but the referee waves the appeals for a penalty away. Would have been very harsh.
Olympiacos are having huge success down the left as Holebas gets forward again and whips a ball across the face of goal but no player in blue makes the gamble and the chance is spurned.
Saviola makes an excellent forward run and is fouled right on the edge of the area and this will give Holebas a chance to strike the free kick from about 20 yards out.
Holebas fires the ball at goal but it strikes the wall in the knees and the visitors hook the ball clear with ease.
YELLOW CARD! Kouyate goes into the book for a challenge on Olaitan deep in Anderlecht territory on the left flank, the striker made a meal of the challenge as he went down in stages following minimal contact. Poor from Olaitan and there was no need for it as he was away from the defender.
The cross comes in from the left but Anderlecht clear with ease once again.
Anderlecht raid forward down the right and the ball into the box from Kljestan is only cleared as far as Praet who strikes the ball but his tame effort trickles well wide of the post.
Najar sprints to the edge of the area and takes a touch down the left to get to the byline for the visitors but he is brought down by Samaris but the referee points for a goal kick. That looked like a free kick.
Both sides are struggling to keep the ball at the moment as they're hitting ambitious long balls over the top of the defences, which don't seem to be working.
Saviola gets brought down for the second time of the game in a dangerous area for the hosts Milivojevic hauls him to the ground about 30 yards from goal and that will allow Paulo Machado to hit the ball.
CHANCE! Machado hits the ball and it bounces right before Proto and he is forced just to parry the effort away from goal and out for a corner.
Two set pieces come into the box but the Anderlech defence deal with two corners hit into the area with ease as neither beat the first man at the near post. The delivery hasn't been there so far for the hosts.
Yet another free kick is given away by the Belgian side as N'Sakala brings down Campbell down the right about 40 yards from goal and the home side will yet again have a chance to whip a cross into the area.
Once again the delivery is poor this time from Machado and the visitors hack the ball clear at the second attempt after Siovas had won the initial header.
YELLOW CARD! Milivojevic goes into the book this time as he brings down Saviola for the second time of the game as he looked to counter upfield. The midfielder knew what he was doing there.
Yet another foul by Anderlecht as N'Sakala brings down Manolas right on the edge of the box on the right side of the penalty area. He somehow escapes a booking but Holebas will have the chance to strike at goal.
An awful effort from Holebas as he hits his shot at goal hard and high and onto the roof of the net. The finishing and crossing ability in the final third of the pitch has been poor for the home side.
Campbell gets down the right for the home side and he whips a good cross into the area but Saviola just can't bring the ball down inside the box and the visitors clear and Najar raids upfield and fires a long ball at goal which sails over the bar. That sort of game at the moment.
N'Sakala fouls Campbell for the third time of the game and still isn't booked as he brings him down on the right about 30 yards from goal. Holebas stands over the ball waiting to cross it in.
Holbas's cross is headed on by Siovas but no player in blue can react to the second ball and the it's cleared yet again by the visitors.
Vanden Borre falls asleep for the hosts and it nearly costs his side as Fuster is allowed to cross the ball from the left but the ball just doesn't fall for Olaitan in the area.
CHANCE! Saviola comes within inches of giving his side the lead as he plays a lovely one-two with Fuster and the midfieler released him inside the box but he can't curl his effort into the corner.
GOAL! Olympiacos 1-0 Anderlecht (Saviola)
Saviola doesn't miss this time as the ball is played to him on the left again with another through ball from Fuster but this time the striker fires the ball low and hard into the bottom right corner giving Proto no chance.
As it stands Olympiacos will be heading through to the knockout stages of the competition.
GOAL! Olympiacos 1-1 Anderlecht (Kljestan)
Anderlecht are level out of nowhere as a long ball is pumped forward to Mitrovic and the Greek side's defence is miles out of position and the striker slides a through ball for Gillet who then squares to leave an open goal for Kljestan to slot home. Where did the defence go for the hosts.
The home side appeal half-heartedly for a penaly as Saviola goes down in the area following a cross from Campbell but the referee tells the striker to get up.
On the bright side for the hosts PSG have taken the lead against Benfica and if that result stays the same they will advance to the knockout stages.
Paulo Machado brings down Klejstan the the visitors have a chance to threaten as Gillet knocks a ball into the area but after a scramble and a few fallen bodies, Olympiacos clear the danger.
CHANCE! Campbell raids down the right and cuts back onto his left foot and drills an effort at goal which takes a deflection off Olaitan and goes inches wide of the post. That was close.
Somehow the Greek side are awarded a corner and Holebas lifts one in from the left and Olaitan gets up but he heads his effort high over the bar.
HALF-TIME: Olympiacos 1-1 Anderlecht
As it stands Olympiacos will be heading through to knockout stages of the Champions League as Benfica are losing to PSG. Although the home side did help themselves in the 34th minute when Saviola fired them ahead some lax defending saw them squander their advantage five minutes later.
The hosts played some decent football although the ball just wasn't quite there for them in the final third until Fuster's shot deflected into the path of Saviola who finished nicely. But they undid all that work with a defensive slip allowing a counter for Kljestan to score.
Olympiacos will be through if Benfica continue to lose but they won't want to leave it up to PSG to get them into the last 16.
We're back underway in this Champions League clash.
PENALTY TO OLYMPIACOS!
RED CARD! Kouyate is sent off as he blocks Saviola's shot at goal inside the area with his hands and now Saviola will have the chance to score from the spot. The defender tried to hide that from the referee but it was a good spot. Crucial moment in the game.
PENALTY SAVED!
OH what a moment in this game as Saviola strike the ball at goal but it's nowhere near powerful enough or far enough in the corner and Proto makes a good save to tip the ball past the post.
From the resulting corner Holebas's delivery is cleared by the first man who heads the ball clear from the ground and Fuster eases the pressure on the visitors as he fouls Mitrovic.
SUBSTITUTIONS: Weiss replaces Machado for the hosts and Nuytinck comes on for Milivojevic.
Weiss gets involved in the action immediately as he picks up the ball in midfield and races to the edge of the box and fires an effort at goal but it's poor and trickles wide of the post.
GOAL! Olympiacos 2-1 Anderlecht (Saviola)
Saviola makes up from his miss from the spot with a clinical finish from close range as Olaitan raided down the left and his cross was headed clear only as far as Fuster who volleyed at goal but his effort was deflected into the path of Saviola who fired home acrobatically.
Andelecht try to respond down the right as Vanden Borre tries to whip a cross into the box but he is well marshalled by Holebas who makes a good covering tackle to break up the attack.
That goal from Saviola is all the more important now as Benfica lead against PSG but the Argentine has also been withdrawn in favour of Dominguez.
Dominguez raids forward for the Greek side as he shoots on the half-volley from about 25 yards but his effort goes wide of the post.
SAVE! Roberto keeps his side in the lead and maybe the competition as he produces an excellent reaction stop to deny Gillet as the ball fell kindly for him in the box. That could be crucial for Olympiacos.
Vanden Borre makes a crucial intervention to stop Olaitan on the end of Campbell's low cross into the box as the striker looked as though he was just about to pull the trigger.
PENALTY TO OLYMPIACOS!
YELLOW CARD: Sakala finally goes into the book as he brings down Weiss in the area and the midfielder himself will take it. Anderlecht can kill the game off here.
PENALTY SAVED!
Proto makes the save from the spot again as Weiss tries to hit the ball down the middle and doesn't make good contact but the keeper makes the stop with his feet. What a moment in the game and what a performance from the keeper.
SAVE! Proto makes another great save this time to deny Olaitan as he latched onto Campbell's cross and prodded an effort at goal from close range but the keeper stuck out a hand and somehow kept it out.
SAVE! Roberto makes a great save at the other end as Sakala raids down the left and digs out a cross which is deflected to Gillet 20 yards from goal and he volleys but the keeper is there to tip the ball over the bar.
End-to-end stuff as there are chances aplenty at the moment. If Olympiacos don't qualify they will be kicking themselves, they've had so many chances to kill the game off.
Holebas finds room on the left and slides ball in the inside channel for Olaitan who turns his man but fires a tame effort at goal, which Proto gets down to save with ease.
Olaitan tries another effort as he skips past a couple of challenges and fires a low shot from the edge of the box but Proto once again makes the stop.
Olympiacos work the ball down the right as Campbell finds space down the line, he cuts back and brings Fuster into play and the midfielder fires a long-range effort at goal but it goes just over the bar.
Anderlecht are upping the ante late in the game and are really committing numbers forward to threaten the Olympiacos goal but they are yet to test Roberto again.
RED CARD! Anderlecht are reduced to nine men Sakala receives his marching orders for bringing down Weiss with a scything tackle as he was approaching the penalty area.
From the resulting free kick Dominguez fires the ball into the wall but they get the ball back and kill some time off the clock in the corner.
There will be three minutes of added time. That is terrible officiating, there should be a lot more than that considering the two penalties, two red cards and six substitutions.
PENALTY TO OLYMPIACOS!
RED CARD! Proto is sent off for Anderlecht and they are down to eight men as he brings down Weiss in the area. There was minimal contact and Weiss has taken a tumble and made the most of that there.
GOAL! Olympiacos 3-1 Anderlecht (Dominguez)
Mitrovic goes in goal for the penalty for the visitors but he can do nothing to keep out Dominguez's effort as he fires the ball into the bottom corner, the striker nearly got a hand to it, but that should be that.
FULL-TIME: Olympiacos 3-1 Anderlecht
Olmypiacos are through to the last 16 of the Champions League in a bizarre game at the Karaiskakis Stadium, as Anderlecht conceded three penalties and had three players sent off while Proto saved two of them but couldn't save the third as he was red carded. Eventful to say the least.
The performance wasn't great from the hosts but they did enough to secure the three points which turned out to be vital as Benfica beat PSG but they are forced to settle for a place in the Europa League.
Anderlecht crash out of the competition after taking just one point from their six games and will be disappointed to leave this match after making it competitive but their discipline at times was poor and they just didn't have enough to sneak a point.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. We'll be back with more action from then Champions League tomorrow. Until then, goodbye.
